Abstract
This article investigates the relationships among digital game addiction, selfishness, academic motivation, and classroom engagement in high school students who regularly play digital games. The study, conducted with 860 Turkish students in grades 9 to 12, found that higher levels of selfishness are positively associated with increased digital game addiction, while digital game addiction is negatively related to academic motivation but not directly linked to classroom engagement. Additionally, academic motivation positively correlates with classroom engagement. The findings suggest that reducing selfishness and digital game addiction through collaborative learning, empathy development, and awareness initiatives may enhance students' academic motivation and engagement.
