Abstract

This article systematically reviews and meta-analyzes randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing the effectiveness of Moro orange juice extract (Citrus sinensis Osbeck) supplementation on weight-related outcomes in overweight and obese adults. Based on three RCTs involving 252 participants, the extract was associated with modest but statistically significant reductions in body weight (mean difference approximately −2.08 kg) and fat mass, while effects on waist circumference were inconsistent and no significant changes were observed in lean mass. The overall certainty of evidence was low to very low due to small sample sizes, risk of bias, and heterogeneity among studies. The authors conclude that although Moro orange juice extract shows potential for weight and fat mass reduction, further high-quality research is needed to confirm efficacy, determine optimal dosing, and assess long-term safety before clinical recommendations can be made.
