Abstract
This article focuses on a Finnish study examining clinical trajectories of first-episode psychosis (FEP) associated with cannabis use disorder (CUD) and cannabis-induced psychosis (CIP) compared to FEP without substance use disorder (SUD). Using nationwide Swedish registers from 2006 to 2021, researchers identified individuals with CIP, FEP&CUD, and FEP without SUD, finding that cannabis-related psychoses were linked to higher inpatient treatment burdens, increased risks of hospitalization for psychosis, and elevated mortality compared to FEP without SUD. The study suggests that cannabis-related psychoses may exist on a clinical continuum rather than as distinct entities, highlighting the need for targeted interventions. [Extracted from the article]
