Abstract
The article discusses the development of care ethics since Carol Gilligan introduced the concept in 1982, extending its reach to social justice and non-Western ethical thinking. The author explores the historical roots of care ethics, emphasizing empathy and relationships, drawing connections to Chinese philosophy through the concepts of yin and yang. By integrating yin and yang into the discussion of moral virtue and rationality, the author suggests a broader and deeper understanding of values beyond traditional ethical frameworks. Michael Slote, a professor of ethics, advocates for a more inclusive approach to philosophy that incorporates ideas from various philosophical traditions. [Extracted from the article]
