Abstract
This article focuses on the use of BDSM (Bondage and discipline, Dominance and submission, Sadism, and Masochism) as a pain management strategy for pelvic pain caused by endometriosis, a chronic gynecological condition affecting approximately 176 million women worldwide. Through a clinical case report, it explores how one woman employed BDSM not for the experience of pain itself but to gain control over and displace her endometriosis-related pain. The study highlights the potential for expanding pain management options beyond conventional treatments to improve quality of life for women with endometriosis and their intimate relationships.
