Abstract
The article focuses on a systematic review and meta-analysis comparing oncoplastic breast surgery (OBCS) with breast-conserving surgery (BCS) without reconstruction in breast cancer treatment. Analyzing data from 28 studies involving 28,162 patients, the review found that OBCS offers superior cosmetic outcomes, higher patient satisfaction, and better psychological and physical well-being than BCS. Additionally, OBCS was associated with a significantly lower risk of cancer recurrence in patients with positive surgical margins, supporting its oncological safety. The study highlights oncoplastic breast surgery as an important advancement that combines oncological effectiveness with improved quality of life through aesthetic preservation.
