Abstract
The study evaluates the effectiveness of labetalol compared to hydralazine in managing severe hypertension during pregnancy. Conducted at the Department of Gynecology, Services Hospital Lahore, the quasi-experimental study involved 320 pregnant women diagnosed with severe hypertension, divided into two treatment groups. Results indicated that labetalol achieved target blood pressure in 83.8% of participants, while hydralazine achieved it in 71.2%, with hydralazine providing faster blood pressure control but with more adverse effects. The study concludes that labetalol is preferable for sustained blood pressure management, whereas hydralazine is more effective for rapid blood pressure reduction. [Extracted from the article]
