Abstract

The article discusses the surprising discovery of the male serotine bat's large penis, which is so big that it makes traditional penetrative sex impossible. Instead, these bats engage in contact mating, where sperm is transferred by rubbing their genitalia together. This behavior has never been documented in mammals before. The article also explores other unique sexual behaviors observed in bats and highlights the importance of studying these behaviors to understand the evolution of sexual behaviors in animals. The researchers hope to further investigate penis morphology and mating behavior in different bat species in the future. [Extracted from the article]
