Abstract

The article "Changes in the Aging Policy Landscape Since the 2020 Election" discusses the challenges and policy initiatives related to aging in America. It highlights the increase in the number of older Americans, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on health care access, and the need for comprehensive aging policy. The article focuses on federal and state policies adopted since 2020 to improve health access, strengthen economic security, and address issues related to Medicare, Medicaid, nursing home quality, Medicaid eligibility, Medicaid HCBS, LTSS financing, and family caregiver support. Despite some progress, challenges remain in addressing the financial well-being of older adults and their families, particularly in areas such as long-term care financing and Social Security. The article emphasizes the need for equitable policy solutions to protect vulnerable older adults. [Extracted from the article]
