Abstract
Researchers from Amsterdam University Medical Centers conducted a study on adolescent substance abuse and its association with problematic social media use (PSMU). The study found that PSMU was linked to higher levels of tobacco, alcohol, hashish/marijuana, and laughing gas intake among adolescents. Parental rules on alcohol/drugs were found to have a modest moderating effect on the relationship between PSMU and substance use behaviors. The research highlights the potential role of parental rules in mitigating the impact of PSMU on substance use. [Extracted from the article]
