Abstract

The article focuses on the archival and political significance of Zirve Soylu, a trans woman, sex worker, and activist in Turkey who died by suicide in 2022. It examines two video essays—*provenance: ‘zirve’* and *value: Zirve Soylu*—which explore archival principles of provenance and value from a trans and lubunya (a Turkish umbrella term for LGBTQIA+ communities with trans roots) perspective, highlighting how archives can reflect belonging and worth for marginalized groups. The work critiques societal and institutional erasure of trans lives, emphasizing that trans suicides and killings are political acts linked to systemic violence. It also documents Soylu’s digital presence, legal struggles against transphobic violence, and her role within the broader LGBTI+ movement in Turkey.
