Abstract

The article focuses on assessing internet addiction and its association with the general health profile among medical, dental, and nursing graduates in India. Conducted as a cross-sectional study at a tertiary care teaching hospital in North India, 374 students were evaluated using Young’s Internet Addiction Test (IAT) and the Duke Health Profile, a 17-item self-report measure of functional health. Results indicated that male students had significantly higher internet addiction scores than females, and increased severity of internet addiction correlated negatively with multiple domains of general health, particularly among medical students and female nursing students. The study concludes that excessive internet use is linked to deterioration in both mental and physical health, highlighting the need for awareness, early identification, and interventions targeting internet addiction within healthcare education.
