Abstract
The article focuses on a scoping review that examines the factors associated with perceived coercion among adults receiving psychiatric care. Conducted by researchers from Université du Québec en Outaouais in Gatineau, Canada, the review analyzed 143 sources and identified five categories of influencing factors: individual, clinical, relational, legal, and structural. The findings indicate that relational and legal factors are most consistently linked to perceived coercion, while structural influences are underexamined but significantly impact patient experiences. The research emphasizes the need for future studies to adopt qualitative and intersectional approaches to better understand and address coercive practices in psychiatric care.
