Abstract
The article focuses on research investigating the potential therapeutic effects of sulforaphane, a natural antioxidant found in cruciferous vegetables, for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Conducted by researchers from Capital Medical University in Beijing, the study included a meta-analysis of six randomized controlled trials with 333 participants, which indicated that sulforaphane supplementation significantly reduced scores on the Social Responsiveness Scale compared to placebo, without notable adverse effects. The research also identified ten core molecular targets of sulforaphane and suggested that its efficacy may be linked to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as its modulation of autophagy.
