Abstract
Abraham Cowley, a teenage student at Westminster School, published a collection of poetry in 1636 that included a translation of a Latin poem on the annunciation. The original Latin poem, attributed to 'Dr A.', has been tentatively identified as the work of William Alabaster. Cowley's translation closely mirrors the structure and content of the Latin verses, showcasing his fidelity to the original source. Recent evidence linking Alabaster to Cowley through notebooks and stylistic similarities further supports the identification of 'Dr A.' as William Alabaster. [Extracted from the article]
