Abstract
This article focuses on the Indonesian philosophy of Pancasila as a foundational moral framework that promotes unity, tolerance, and respect among diverse communities within Indonesia. It explores how Pancasila's five principles—belief in one God, just and civilized humanity, unity of Indonesia, democracy through deliberation, and social justice—can be understood through Axel Honneth's theory of recognition, which emphasizes respect and social affirmation. The authors argue that applying Honneth's concepts to Pancasila offers a way to address social conflicts by fostering deliberative democracy and strengthening civil society. This approach positions Pancasila as a moral grammar supporting pluralism, multiculturalism, and mental health through solidarity and equality.
