Abstract

The article focuses on the publication of "Uncle Tom's Cabin" by Harriet Beecher Stowe, which triggered significant discussions about slavery and the depiction of African Americans. Stowe's anti-slavery novel, while initially seen as vital, also led to the creation of the subservient "Uncle Tom" stereotype, perpetuating misunderstandings about its true intentions and characters.
