Abstract

Seychelles and Mauritius have been ranked as the top investment destinations in Africa, surpassing South Africa due to its weak economic indicators. The ranking, conducted by Rand Merchant Bank, assessed 31 African nations based on economic performance, market accessibility, investment climate, and social and human development. Egypt came in third place. The report highlights the challenges faced by Africa, such as geopolitical tensions and global inflation, which have impacted trade flows and kept interest rates high. While Seychelles and Mauritius ranked highest in terms of economic stability and investment climate, their small economies and populations may pose a barrier for some investors. Egypt, on the other hand, scored well in economic performance and potential, while South Africa's market accessibility and innovation were considered the best on the continent. However, South Africa's ranking was affected by its slow economic growth, high unemployment, and inadequate infrastructure. Kenya dropped out of the top 10 due to political instability and social tensions caused by inequality and corruption. [Extracted from the article]
