Abstract

This case study focuses on the ultrasound imaging and management of thoracopagus conjoined twins at 13 weeks and 3 days of gestation, highlighting the identification of a shared heart, liver, and bowel. Thoracopagus twins, fused at the anterior thorax, often have poor prognoses due to cardiac anomalies, with a single fused heart typically precluding surgical separation. Early and detailed ultrasound evaluation is essential for diagnosing conjoined twins, assessing organ sharing, and guiding clinical decisions, including pregnancy continuation or termination. The study underscores the challenges in fetal cardiac assessment and the importance of ultrasound in detecting signs of congestive heart failure, which significantly impacts prognosis and management options.
