Abstract
The article reviews several scholarly works that explore the historical and sociopolitical dynamics in specific regions of Africa, focusing on colonial and postcolonial influences. Nti's book examines the maritime culture and resistance in Cape Coast, Ghana, emphasizing the active role of coastal Fanti citizens in shaping their history amidst colonial disruptions. Emma Park's work investigates the relationship between infrastructure, austerity, and governance in Kenya, highlighting the impact of corporate interests on public resources and the historical continuity of these issues from colonial times to the present. Jill Rosenthal's book analyzes the politics of aid for Rwandan refugees along the Tanzania-Rwanda border, arguing that transnational aid influences local identities and nation-building processes. Each work contributes to a deeper understanding of the complexities of colonial legacies and contemporary challenges in African societies. [Extracted from the article]
