Abstract

An interview with journalist Margo Jefferson is presented. Jefferson talks about her growing up in a Black society called Negroland, her struggle in school when she was younger, and how the Black society train young girls about race, culture and marriage. She discusses the rise of Black Power and feminism, influence of feminism on her career, her path towards journalism and writing about appropriation. She shares her thoughts about people forsaking complexity of race for representation.
