Abstract
The article focuses on the upcoming 50th-anniversary edition of Richard Scarry's 1974 children's book *Cars and Trucks and Things That Go*, to be released by Random House Children's Books on January 2, 2024. This edition includes previously unpublished sketches discovered by Scarry’s son, Huck Scarry, along with a removable poster, dust jacket, and a letter from Huck about his father and the book’s creation. Richard Scarry, known for his detailed and imaginative illustrations, created stories appealing to diverse audiences, incorporating humor and inclusive characters such as female mechanics and traffic officers. Huck Scarry, a graphic designer and children’s author, reflects on his father’s work ethic, creativity, and ability to engage readers across generations and genders. The original book has sold over three million copies in North America and remains influential in children’s literature.
