Abstract
John Savournin, the cofounder and artistic director of Charles Court Opera, is a busy singer and director. He grew up in Sheffield and got involved in theatre through local amateur groups and youth theatre. He studied singing at Trinity College of Music and later developed an idea for a chamber-sized production of The Mikado. Charles Court Opera has since expanded and collaborated with various venues, including Opera Holland Park. Savournin discusses the challenge of making Gilbert and Sullivan's work relevant to modern audiences and the importance of music education. He also mentions his future ambitions and plans.
