Abstract

The article focuses on Corning, a 175-year-old glass manufacturer, and its role in onshoring the artificial intelligence (AI) supply chain. Corning has responded to increased AI demand by expanding large-scale operations, including a $6 billion contract to supply Meta with fiber-optic cable capable of encircling the equator 320 times. The company also developed Contour, an AI-specific fiber that doubles data capacity, and has secured multiple large contracts with unnamed clients. Corning maintains a discreet approach to publicizing its business dealings, sharing information only when authorized by customers. [Extracted from the article]
