Abstract
The article focuses on the Syrian Cassette Archives (SCA), an initiative established in 2018 to catalog, research, and share Syrian music primarily through a digitized collection of cassettes from the 1970s to the 2000s. The archive, freely accessible online, includes over 1,000 cassettes featuring original artwork, audio recordings, and contextual information about the music and artists. The collection encompasses diverse musical styles from Syria, neighboring countries, and exiled communities such as Assyrian, Kurdish, Armenian, and Iraqi. Amid ongoing conflict and displacement in Syria, the SCA serves as an important resource for preserving and celebrating the country’s musical heritage.
