Abstract

The article discusses the commentary offered by then U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice William Howard Taft on various issues. Topics discussed include his views on the weakness and leadership of the Republican Party, insights on the child labor laws in Southern States and the proposed constitutional ban on child labor, and his perception on then Columbia University president Nicholas Murray Butler and jurist Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.
