Abstract

This article explores the value of synthesis skills in today's complex world and how they can benefit leaders in decision-making. It suggests drawing on the ancient wisdom of the Essenes, as found in the Dead Sea Scrolls, to enhance these skills. The Essene guidelines focus on relationships, sensemaking, peace of mind, and continuous learning. The article emphasizes the importance of deep listening, setting aside personal beliefs and emotions, and engaging in self-discovery. It provides techniques for effective deep listening, such as remaining silent and avoiding eye contact. The article also highlights the significance of deep listening and effective communication in various contexts, emphasizing the need to quiet one's inner dialogue and listen to intuition or deeper wisdom. It suggests using "I-messages" when speaking to others and fostering a culture of trust and transparency.
