Abstract
The article focuses on the challenges faced by Winnipeg Transit in the early post-war era (1946-1962) as it attempted to modernize and compete with emerging dominance of automobiles in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Topics include the historical evolution of Winnipeg's mass transportation system from horse-drawn streetcars to trolley buses, the impact of structural issues within transit management, and the policies that both contributed to declining transit usage and the rise of car culture in Winnipeg.
