Abstract

This article focuses on a randomized controlled trial investigating the effect of Reiki therapy on surgical fear and anxiety in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The study involved 48 patients divided into three groups: Reiki, Sham Reiki, and control, with surgical fear and anxiety measured before and after the intervention using validated questionnaires. Results indicated that patients receiving Reiki experienced significantly lower preoperative fear and anxiety compared to the other groups. The study concludes that Reiki, as a complementary nursing intervention, can effectively reduce surgical fear and anxiety in this patient population.
