Abstract

The article reviews *Memories of Buffalo Bill*, a memoir by Louisa Frederici Cody, wife of William F. Cody, known as Buffalo Bill. The book recounts their life together, including frontier hardships, Cody’s transition from scout to showman, and their troubled marriage culminating in a denied 1904 divorce. Published two years after Cody’s death with assistance from reporter Courtney Ryley Cooper, the memoir aims to preserve Buffalo Bill’s heroic image and includes excerpts from the divorce proceedings. The edition features an introduction by historian Sherry L. Smith and is noted for its detailed, personal perspective on the Codys’ life and legacy.
