Abstract

The article explores the falsification of history by Russia and its impact on the conflict with Ukraine. It discusses the distortion of facts and indoctrination in Russian narratives, which has led to a "war for history." The invasion of Ukraine in 2022 is justified by historical reasons, despite lacking scientific basis. Russian history textbooks are used as tools to destroy Ukrainian identity, and the appropriation of Kyivan Rus' history by Moscow has had a detrimental effect on Ukraine. The text also delves into the historical relationship between Muscovy and Kyivan Rus, the role of the Tatar-Mongols in shaping Russian identity, and the suppression of the Ukrainian nation by the Russians. It highlights the historical manipulation and propaganda tactics employed by the Russian government, particularly under President Putin, to legitimize its authoritarian regime. The text concludes by describing the transformation of the Russian Federation into a totalitarian system based on the ideology of "rashism," which combines elements of Russian chauvinism, imperialism, and totalitarianism. It calls for joint efforts to overcome this dangerous ideology and suggests actions that the international coalition should take to support Ukraine in its conflict with Russia, including providing weapons, implementing sanctions, and countering Russian propaganda.
