Abstract

This article is a book review of Ming Du's "The Regulation of Product Standards in World Trade Law." The book explores how product standards are regulated in the legal framework of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) and the World Trade Organization (WTO), and examines the impact of WTO disciplines on standard-setting bodies. The book is divided into seven chapters, covering topics such as the basic WTO obligations on product standards, international regulatory cooperation, private standards, and the interaction between standards development processes and WTO requirements. The review highlights the importance of this research for trade law scholars and practitioners, providing a reference for trade disputes involving product standards and guiding the formulation of legitimate standards.
