Abstract
The article examines the unique philosophical approach of Americans, highlighting that the United States lacks a distinct philosophical school and shows little interest in European philosophical traditions. It argues that Americans rely heavily on individual reasoning and self-guidance, leading to a skepticism of external authority and a preference for personal judgment. This tendency is attributed to the democratic social conditions in America, which foster a belief in the sufficiency of individual understanding while simultaneously limiting the exploration of more profound or supernatural concepts. The article also contrasts this with European philosophical developments, suggesting that the absence of a revolutionary upheaval in America has resulted in a different relationship with dogmatic beliefs and public opinion.
