Abstract

Hyderabad is all set to witness big political actionon September 17 with all the major political parties looking to getinto election mode on a day which marks the anniversary of theaccession of erstwhile Hyderabad State to India. Like the previous governments of Congress and Telugu Desam Party(TDP) in undivided Andhra Pradesh, the TRS (now BRS)government in Telangana had rejected demands for officiallycelebrating the day in view of the reservations by Majlis-e-IttehadulMuslimeen (MIM) and other Muslim groups, who say that Muslimswere massacred during "police action", as the Operation Polo waspopularly called.
