Abstract
The poem "Brooklyn Bridge" reflects on the human cost of constructing the iconic Brooklyn Bridge, questioning whether the J. R. Roebling Company or city officials documented the number of workers who died during its construction. It highlights the contrast between the celebrated architects and financiers, whose names are memorialized in stone, and the immigrant laborers who perished and remain largely unrecognized. The poem emphasizes the sacrifices of these workers, whose contributions are symbolically embedded within the bridge itself, serving as a silent testament to their efforts.
