Abstract

An interview with Canadian painter Stephen Andrews is presented. Topics discussed include the original conception for Andrews' painting "The Artist's Studio, after Courbet," the connection between the painting and the mosaic commission made by Andrews in Paris, France, and a comparison between Andrews and French painter Gustave Courbet. Also discussed are Andrews' use of Fibonacci sequencing as a method for making a painting and the significance of words in his art.
