Abstract
This article focuses on Tikkiwallah, a textile studio founded by Rachna Sachasinh that supports traditional handwoven and embroidered textiles produced by rural artisans in Laos and Thailand. Tikkiwallah emphasizes sustainable, no-waste production using naturally dyed cotton grown and spun by ethnic Tai Lue families in Laos, with embroidered embellishments added by Tai Yai women in Thailand. The studio emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic as a response to halted income for rural textile workers, aiming to preserve agrarian craft traditions and provide economic opportunities amid challenges such as shifting agricultural practices and international trade barriers. The textiles reflect deep cultural heritage and artisanal skill, connecting multiple ethnic communities across borders. [Extracted from the article]
