Abstract
The article focuses on the expansion of the Monte Rio Redwoods Regional Park in Sonoma County, California, which has increased its size significantly to enhance public access and protect local ecosystems. The park, which opened in 2020, now encompasses approximately 2,030 acres and connects to adjacent public lands, creating a network of 22,000 contiguous acres for outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, and horseback riding. The acquisition of additional land was facilitated by various organizations, including Save the Redwoods League, and aims to restore habitats for species like coho salmon and steelhead trout. The article also highlights the historical significance of the land to the Kashia Band of Pomo Indians and the impact of past logging practices on the environment. [Extracted from the article]
