Abstract

The article explores the historical origins of various technologies that are often perceived as modern inventions. It highlights several notable examples, including Alexander Graham Bell's 1880 wireless phone, the Egger-Lohner C.2 Phaeton electric car designed by Ferdinand Porsche in 1898, Charles Babbage's 1834 Analytical Engine, early contact lenses developed by Adolf Fick in 1887, and the ancient 'Baghdad batteries' dating back to around 200 BCE. These innovations demonstrate that many technologies we rely on today have roots that extend much further back in history than commonly believed. [Extracted from the article]
