Abstract
Wendy Murphy is an attorney and media commentator who has spent her entire career fiercely advocating for women's rights. Although she does not participate in family court litigation, she is well-schooled in the injustices endured by women who are forced to engage in a custody battle with an abuser. Here, she maintains that the core problem underlying family court injustice is a lack of full legal equality for women, a problem whose remedy, she argues, lies in the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment. The author outlines the history of this century-old piece of legislation and argues vehemently for the ERA's adoption as an amendment to our Constitution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
