Abstract
The article recounts a plot in 1981 dubbed as Operation Red Dog wherein ten self-described mercenaries planned to arrest and/or kill Prime Minister Eugenia Charles then replace her with previous leader, Patrick John. Topics include the arrest of all ten mercenaries on charges of possessing illegal firearms and explosives as well as conspiracy to violate the Neutrality Act of 1794, analysis of the plot, and comparison of the Operation Red Dog to the 1961 embarrassment at the Bay of Pigs.
