Abstract

The article focuses on the Abscam Bribery Scandal in the early 1980s, which revealed corruption within the Democrat-controlled political machinery in the Northeast and beyond. The investigation involved undercover Federal Bureau of Investigation agents posing as oil-rich Arabs and their minions, and ultimately resulted in the conviction of individuals, including a U.S. senator and six U.S. representatives.It also mentions the influence of organized crime in the casino industry.
