Abstract

This article reviews a diverse selection of recent piano recordings, focusing on lesser-known works and composers alongside established repertoire. Highlights include Peter Donohoe's exploration of British piano quintets, Simon Mulligan's survey of Percy Grainger's solo piano works, and Giovanni Bellucci's performances of Ferruccio Busoni's piano and orchestra pieces. Other notable releases feature Christina Bjørkøe's imaginative interpretations of Erik Satie, Frank Huang's recordings of Nikolay Medtner's solo piano music, and a piano duo album of Ukrainian and American compositions by Anastasiia Larchikova and Mykhailo Diordiiev. The article also draws attention to recordings of piano music by women composers from Britain, Malta, Latvia, and Estonia, emphasizing the artistic merit and cultural significance of these often overlooked repertoires.
