Abstract
The article focuses on the early fur trade activities in the region around Duck Portage Missinippi from 1790 to 1812, detailing the interactions and challenges faced by traders. In May 1796, a trader recounts the decision to build a house due to a lack of provisions and the arrival of other traders from Churchill, led by Mr. Wm Linklater. Tensions arise as the Churchill group appears to operate independently and may oppose the interests of the narrator's party. The narrator expresses concern over the lack of cooperation and support from the Churchill traders, highlighting the difficulties of survival and the complexities of trade relationships in the area.
