Abstract

Benjamin Wetzel's insightful piece of scholarship sheds new light on the influence of religion in the life of Theodore Roosevelt, so often discussed, but rarely considered beyond the constraints of his youth. Wetzel's text has essentially offered the first religious biography of Roosevelt, providing the reader with a whistle-stop tour of his life from a spiritual perspective. Wetzel's study of Roosevelt's religion also allows historians to explore a new "inclusive" angle to this larger-than-life character. [Extracted from the article]
