Abstract
The article attributes the phrase "Give me liberty or give me death!" by Patrick Henry, founding father of the U.S., to a theatrical interlude performed at the Drury Lane Theater in London, England on October 19, 1774 which exemplifies the transatlantic nature of the American Patriotic political movement. Topics discussed are opposition to the government during the parliamentary 1774 election, role of colonial policy in the election and aim of the interlude to censure bribery and corruption.
