Abstract

Henry Luce and Briton Hadden and their scrappy team of 20-somethings piled into a cab to barrel across town to the printing plant on the last Tuesday in February 1923. "March 7, 1984: I finished the Michael Jackson cover", Warhol wrote in his diary about the piece, which now hangs in the National Portrait Gallery. The original typography used on the cover was based on Bodoni Poster, designed by Chauncey H. Griffith in 1929. [Extracted from the article]
