Abstract

The article discusses the impact of the 15th century trade war between the Kalmar Union, Hanseatic League merchants, and English traders on Iceland. Topics explored include the economic and political situation in Iceland under the leadership of then Governor Bjöjrn þorleifsson, the disruption of the Hanseatic trade network that relied on the Norwegian port of Bergen, and the significant changes to the trade policies of Iceland following the conflict.
