Abstract
The article focuses on current challenges facing the United States National Park System under President Donald Trump's second term, highlighting concerns about budget cuts, workforce reductions, and changes to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. The National Park Service (NPS), which manages 433 sites across over 85 million acres, has experienced a 24% decline in permanent staff since 2020, raising issues about resource protection and public safety. Additionally, a new executive order proposes increased fees for foreign visitors to generate revenue, while efforts to remove or alter historical content related to marginalized groups have sparked criticism about erasing important aspects of American history. Experts warn that these developments could cause lasting harm to the National Park System and its role in preserving American heritage.
