Abstract

This article is a message from the special issue editors of the American Journal of Chinese Studies. It introduces a collection of five articles that focus on transnational studies of twentieth-century China. The articles cover a range of topics, including the experiences of a Chinese-Mexican woman who advocated for Chinese communities in Mexico, the United States, and China; the role of the Yoting Women's Christian Association in Beijing in empowering working-class women; the impact of American companies like Coca-Cola and Henningsen in Shanghai; the influence of the worker philosopher Joseph Dietzgen in China; and the enduring legacy of Soviet writer Ilya Ehrenburg in Chinese intellectual circles. These articles provide new perspectives on China's history and offer insights into transnational connections and cultural integration. [Extracted from the article]
